Improve Kitsap County Dog Parks
Kitsap dog parks to improve are the Bremerton Bark Park at Pendergast Park, Silverdale Dog Park, and the Poulsbo Dog Park at Raab Park.

Fencing at the park consists of mainly large chicken wire and stakes to keep it in place. The last time it was updated was in 2017 when they added the double gated entrance.
Ground Cover

Current ground cover in the park is a mix of grass, and large wood chips, which have been used to cover up the mud patches.
Shade
Shade
The few trees planted in recent years are still young, not large enough to provide shade. The large trees that live on the side of the park past the fence do not block the afternoon sun.
Improvement of our parks will benefit our fur babies (dogs), ourselves, and those who you share the community parks with.

Everyone, volunteers are welcome!
Bremerton Parks and Recreation have been contacted regarding the desired projects, dog park frequenters will be invited to get updates, and local pet stores will be asked to share the information.

Project Timeline
Bremerton Bark Park: June 2023 - June 2024
 June - July '23 : Reach out and confirm project approval with Bremerton Parks & Recreation.
August - September '23: Network with community members to raise awareness and get volunteers. Work to raise funds for project materials and labor for fencing.
September - November '23: Research and gather information on possibilities for shade structures.
November '23 - February '24: Raise funds and get volunteers for shade structure materials and labor. Study park ground and layout for best location of structure.
March - April/May '24: Structure completion and begin research for better ground cover plant. Plan phases for landscaping and planting.
May - June '23: Complete project and plan celebration! Set up plans to keep park in best condition. Survey participants and park frequenters for their opinions and suggestions for future projects.
Silverdale Dog Park: Time/dates TBD.
Possible improvements include changing ground cover plant and adding additional shade.
Poulsbo dog Park: Time/dates TBD.
Possible improvements include adding a ground cover and tables for owners.
